Everyone who passes through the doors of the Southern Handcraft Society Show marvels at the vast array of beautiful unique items created by local club members, local artists as well as crafters from Dade and Palm Beach counties. Fall items, including Halloween and Thanksgiving, as well as Christmas and Hanukkah are featured. These lovely creations are not the items you would find in local stores, they are one of a kind and very special. Visitors frequently remark about how fantastic the show is each year and how much they enjoy it. Included are original paintings, framed arts, wooden, knitted, crocheted, embroidered, and quilted items. You will also find interesting seasonal table decor, door hangers, wreaths, tree decorations, and ornaments. The Green section will have items made out of recycled materials, such as eating utensils, wooden spoons, typewriter keys, mahjong tiles and bingo chips. The Country Kitchen items include unique homemade jellies, jams, breads, cookies, cakes and other delicious treats. Jewelry includes exquisite beaded items, including swarovski crystals, one of a kind designs of costume jewelry, earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, hair ornaments, and brooches, all handmade. The first show was held in 1989, a year after the club started, and has continued its marvelous annual show each fall at various locations, with the exception of a short hiatus due to COVID. Hundreds of people attend each year, admiring all the beautiful items and creative endeavors of Southern Handcraft Society members, local artists and crafters. This is a free show to enjoy the local handcrafts created with love by members of our community.
