The Yoga Center, of Deerfield Beach, announces its annual 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training class, beginning October 7. The course meets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Sundays, through April 28, 2019.
The oldest yoga studio in South Florida, the Yoga Center began offering teacher training in 1988 with JoAnn Evans and has since trained hundreds of teachers throughout Florida and across the U.S. In 2000 the course was expanded to comply with Yoga Alliance standards for 200-hour teacher certification.
With a diverse and highly experienced faculty, the program includes extensive instruction in asana, philosophy, anatomy, pranayama, Sanskrit terminology and teaching practice. Trainees receive instruction in meditation, chakra anatomy, asana sequencing, language skills and the art of adjustment as well as advanced and restorative postures.
The teacher training faculty includes two published authors and over 130 years of combined teaching experience. The Yoga Center has been offering yoga to the South Florida community since 1968.
