Body Brushing

Our skin is not only the first thing we see when we look in the mirror, it is vital in releasing dangerous toxins from our bodies. Skin is one of the five detoxification organs of our body, as are the kidneys, colon, liver, and lungs. It is responsible for releasing more than one pound of waste and toxins every day.

When the pores are blocked with millions of dead skin cells, it is difficult for impurities to leave the body, putting more work on the other elimination organs. One benefit of dry body brushing is that it keeps the pores clear, allowing toxins to escape.

Body brushing also supports the lymphatic system, which is responsible for cleansing every cell of the body. The lymphatic system carries away particle matter such as dead cells, toxic material, and blood proteins out of the interstitial spaces around the cells and into the blood stream.

Body brushing enthusiasts report pain relief, less edema, relaxation and a general overall tingling and stimulated feeling after an hour session. Brushes are available in a variety of textures, providing the gamut of feelings from soft and comforting all the way to coarse and stimulating. See ad page 8.
