According to the National Institute of Mental Health, one in five children today suffers from a mental disorder. The reasons may vary, but the ever-rising expectations school and even enrichment activities put on our children abound. There is less time for cuddles, downtime, self-care and play, giving children the tools to identify and manage stress and emotions—tools for real life.
Jill Rapperport is the founder of YoKi Yoga, a Yoga Alliance Certified Children’s Yoga School which also provides training and education for yoga teachers, classroom teachers, parents and caregivers. She left her lucrative publishing career to ‘build a life dream of creating peace and harmony in people’s lives and bodies through yoga, mindful awareness and other mind-body practices.’
Since Rapperport founded Yoga at Schools in 2004, more than 100 have completed the teacher certification training, and as an approved vendor for Dade County Schools, thousands of children have been served.
Now, The YoKi program is being brought to Broward County with Yoga Kids Teacher Training, March 27 to 29, and April 24 to 26; Friday 2-6pm; Saturday and Sunday 2-6:30pm.
