Life has its inevitable challenges, and sometimes we feel powerless in the wake of the pain and fear that accompany them. World spiritual teacher Paramahansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogiand the subject of the highly acclaimed documentary film Awake: The Life of Yogananda, brought the technique of yoga meditation to the U.S. almost a century ago to help us “awaken” our own inner power. Today, meditation has become a buzzword, but as Yogananda taught, it’s a profound and vital tool accessible to us at any time to help us face such challenges.
Bro. Pranavananda, a monk with Self-Realization Fellowship (founded in 1920 by Yogananda), will be giving a public lecture on the topic of “Meditation: Awaken Your Inner Power,” on Friday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m., at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center. Part of a special weekend event on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, the free talk will focus on the power of meditation to create more peace and happiness in our lives.
