Bridges of Wellness, a non-profit organization located in Wilton Manors, is excited to present a new form of group therapy. “Oasis Group Therapy” combines the proven benefits of meditation with the therapeutic forces of group dynamics.
Reverend Charles Geddes, a spiritual minister with over 40 years of service, and Christopher Stults, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern at a local psychological practice, discussed their respective areas of expertise and were delighted to find much overlap. They noted, however, the lack of programs that adequately addressed the intersection of the psychological and the spiritual, and the idea for Oasis was born.
Each group meeting begins with a 15 minute guided meditation. During the meditation, participants often find that certain issues may rise to consciousness that they would like to discuss. The remainder of the 90 minute session is used to explore the various issues and concerns presented by the group members. Oasis sessions are lively, interactive, and unstructured. The interpersonal dynamics that play out between members of the group often serve as insightful, healing experiences.
Oasis is accepting new enrollments for upcoming groups. Session fees are $15. If interested, call Geddes at 954-530-6006. Oasis group meetings are safe and confidential.
