Debi Welsh, owner of MyoFit Wellness, has struggled with obesity most of her life. She developed poor eating habits and an addiction to food to suppress emotions and cope with her circumstances. “I would overeat to feel better, which ultimately made me feel worse,” says Welsh.
Eight days after surgery for complications of an infected gallbladder, she left the hospital with a new attitude about her body and a greater appreciation for life. That experience was her proverbial “kick in the butt” to take a new path. She was ready to get healthy, get fit, and live. With the help of a certified personal trainer, a training schedule and nutrition plan were established. Her schedule included strength training a few days a week with cardio. Welsh lost over 100 pounds.
Welsh went on to become a certified trainer. “I don’t want people to waste years of their lives, I want to add life to their years,” she states. Welsh takes a holistic approach, training her client’s mind and body, as well as teaching how to implement healthy lifestyle changes with nutritional guidance.
