Hispanic Women Honored for Community, Culture and Charity

The Hispanic Women of Distinction Charity luncheon to be held on August 17 at the Signature Grand in Davie will pay tribute to Latina professionals who are strengthening the social fabric of this country, and making inroads in the leadership pipeline for a growingly diverse America.

Presented by Latina Style magazine in partnership with Bank of America, the event will include a fashion show by the Colonnade Outlets of Sawgrass Mills. A silent auction will raise funds for Light of the World Clinic, a free volunteer medical facility since 1989 founded by the late Dr. Erwin Vasquez. Added this year in his honor is the 1st annual Erwin M. Vasquez M.D. Scholarship for a Latina.

WFTL Radio 850 AM will air live, interviewing honorees, sponsors and community leaders, with talk show host Joyce Kaufman, Latina Pioneer of 2010. Honored from Broward, Dade and Palm Beach counties are: Rixys Alfonso, Leila Cobo, Xiomara Fraga, Dr. Elizabeth King, Liliam M. Lopez, Mercedes J.
