The first major U.S. documentary about Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhi’s Gift: Gandhi’s Inspiring Final Years, premieres at 7pm, on November 18, at Unity of Pompano. Following the debut, join Producer Cynthia Lukas for refreshments and Q&A about her five-year journey making this inspirational film about one of the most beloved people in human history.
Gandhi’s Gift shows the Master in his 70s, after losing his closest allies: his wife of 60 years and his colleague of 25 years. On the brink of attaining his lifelong goal of independence from the British, Gandhi walks barefoot, enduring fasts for unity and peace. Historians believe his actions for inter-religious harmony kept India from expelling Muslims and becoming a Hindu nation.
Filmed on location in India, South Africa and the UK, Director-Producer Kell Kearns states, “Gandhi’s final years are especially inspiring… he accomplished the most astonishing things.”
Gandhi’s message is both timely and timeless. Audiences will be amazed by details about Gandhi that until now have been known only to scholars.
