Public artist Valerie J. Amor is the recipient of a Community Arts Education Partnerships (CAEP) grant intended to foster art education and strengthen community engagement. Celebrating producers of local agriculture, she creates art that builds and deepens community ties, increasing awareness of the importance of nourishing heart, body, mind and soul.
Series of events take place in local community gardens and farms: Treehugger Organic Farms; Miramar Community Garden; Sistrunk Community Garden; Lauderdale Lakes Children’s Community Garden; Pembroke Pines Community Garden; Discovery Farm and Gardens. The Broward 100 sanctioned events run through May.
Learn more about how local food produces wonderful opportunities to understand art essentials. Exploring the three dimensional qualities of food, art objects will be created, including wood pallet furniture, an inspirational walking path, a mural painted on a cargo container and celebratory children’s banners.
“Feed Your Creativity, Art to Heart” is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and by funding from the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council. Additionally, this project is supported by Growing Broward which promotes a sustainable local food system.
