Broward College TerraCycle Program

Did you know you can recycle your toothbrush? What if you could also recycle zip-top bags, chip bags, pens, juice pouches, plastic cups and more than 30 other items that cannot be recycled curbside (items the recycle program does not accept)?

Broward College has been participating in TerraCycle, a program that recycles items that would normally end up in a landfill. Through partnerships with major manufactures, a donation is made to the Broward College foundation to fund the Michelle Lawless Environmental Scholarship.

Broward College is the highest collecting college in the world and is approaching $30,000 raised. Broward College students can earn a scholarship by participating and high school students can earn volunteer hours by participating as well.

The program is 100 percent volunteer-driven, runs on a zero budget, with all collection containers repurposed. Pictured is a bin created by Chris, one of the volunteers.

Items can be brought to any Broward College location or their community partner, Trash to Treasure, at ArtServe.
