A Fierce Green Fire: The Battle for a Living Planet is the first “big picture” exploration of the environmental movement. Fort Lauderdale Friends Meeting (Quakers) is sponsoring the film. Film producer Mark Kitchell will be on hand, with a discussion and Q&A after the movie, February 15.
Kitchell grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, and is the son of an environmentalist. When queried as to what moved him to make the movie, he replied, “I was amazed that a big picture history of the environmental movement had not been done. I came to understand what a big challenge it was over the many years of making it. It was great fun. As Carlos Castaneda would say, “It’s a path with heart.” I’ve learned so much, got to meet so many great people. We always figured there would be a big audience for a film on the environmental movement.”
As to his next project, Kitchell advises, “I have a couple of follow-on films; I am proposing one called California Green Fire and one Fierce Green Future that’s meant to continue where we left off."
A Fierce Green Fire will be showing on Saturday, February 15, 7pm, at Cinema Paradiso, 503 SE 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale, AFierceGreenFire.com/index.html. See ad page 48.
